Set amongst the sycamore trees, a lake, deer and one of the world’s great sculpture parks, Houghton Festival is a hedonistic playground, celebrating live and electronic music across four days on the charming and beautiful grounds of Houghton Hall. Founded, directed and curated by artist, DJ and St Martins alumni Craig Richards, the festival reflects his vision of how a festival should be, with attention to detail and high standards throughout.
The festival exists on the grounds of Houghton Hall, built in the 1720s for Great Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, the hall remains one of England’s finest Palladian houses. 300 years on from its construction, the Cholmondeley family still reside on the estate. Houghton has an internationally recognised art collection and their support for Houghton Festival is incredibly unique.
Houghton Festival is curated with a meandering & unique four day journey at its core. The music is centred around a daytime journey of ambience, jazz, leftfield disco & hazy live performances followed by a night program of contemporary and forward thinking music from the world’s most revered artists.
In addition to the music offering Houghton offers a yearly arts programme with new commissions each year across sculpture, screen and light, a wellness space which is a welcoming destination away from the dance floors, a floating pagoda restaurant on the Houghton lake and an on site record store.
