SCULPTURE GARDEN TOURS
Houghton Hall’s renowned sculpture garden is exclusively available for festival ticket holders throughout the 4 days of the Festival.
Our tour guides take groups of festival goers to the sculpture lawn via a cream choo-choo train that usually spends its days meandering through miniature zoos.
The 2024 artists in residence is the British sculptor Antony Gormley. At Houghton he presents ‘Time Horizon’ where one hundred life-size cast iron figures are on show this summer as part of a major new exhibition.
The permanent collection features work by art world monoliths James Turrell, Rachel Whiteread, Richard Long, Stephen Cox and Anya Gallacio.
Turrell’s Skyspace in particular is a sublime work, which often stuns festival goers into silent awe. We have exclusive access to the Skyspace and the other sculptures at sunrise and sunset. This is a privilege not granted to the general public! – and so the festival offers a unique opportunity to see the works in the enchanted hours of the day’s wax and wane.
You are able to board the train to the sculpture garden from the main arena and times will be released soon for the tours. The tour is part of the festival ticket and no additional tickets are require
