We have finally departed from Houghton, overwhelmed and exceedingly happy. This year took us nearer to an imagined reality. Firstly, we thank you the audience for generating such a vibrant atmosphere from beginning to end. Many of you travelled from the faraway parts of the world. The sense of union proved that when the music and setting co-exist side by side a form of magic is created.
We would like to thank all of the artists who performed with greatness and to the highest of their abilities. The standard was truly remarkable. Moving from one stage to another, one could find great harmony, variety and depth of sound. To name but a few performances: Moin in the Warehouse, N’dagga Rhythm Force at Pinters, Chez Damier at Stallions, Jane Fitz on the Pavilion, Prince Fatty in The Old Gramophone and Richie Hawtin on the Derren Smart stage. We aim to showcase a true range within the musical programme. Exciting new sounds are juxtaposed with music from the another time; an exciting future thoughtfully presented with the glory of the past.
This year we had a greater arts presence. It has always been important to us that the arts be equally represented with music. This year we felt nearer to this concept. Great thanks go to Chris Levine for creating the most dramatic of skylines. We would also like to congratulate Studio Ebba for their latest work ‘Pulse’.
We cherish our ardent followers whilst welcoming newcomers. Together you constitute a unique collection of music lovers, young and old that congregates each year with immense curiosity and a shared discovery. We look forward to seeing you next year.
All the blessings to every human that makes every Houghton what it is from all of us at Houghton.
